Selfie Sunday : Kael of Nomadic-2

Kael at the Summit of Mount Kinabalu

Kael is one half of a young couple from Sydney who decided to quit their full time jobs in the media industry and buy a one way ticket to Asia with no set return date planned. He and Georgie, the other half, have both loved traveling and have visited countries all over the world but always had to return to a job sitting behind a computer from 9-5. After their recent trip to Nepal, they decided to take the jump and quit their jobs for a more permanent travel adventure.

Throwback Trip Thursday : Capones Island 2008

Isla Capones Seascape

Almost eight years ago, I started a personal-travel blog and named it "Lawstude's Journeys". It was then that I got acquainted online with fellow "travel bloggers" whom back then wasn't really that many. Facebook is barely known then so the best way to connect with fellow travelers was through leaving comments in each others blog.

Selfie Sunday : Reiza of Wander If You Must

Reiza Wanders in Kenya

She has experienced Africa, embraced Asia, enjoyed Europe and explored the Philippines. She is Reiza Dejito, a 30-something humanitarian aid worker, filmmaker, and eternal wanderer. Reiza is currently working in Dadaab, the largest refugee camp in the world in Kenya near the Somali border. She also worked in South Sudan, Ethiopia, and of course the Philippines. If she is not buried in work, she is usually found hopping from one airport to the next, discovering new places, eating exotic dishes, learning foreign languages, and fueling Her thirst for adrenaline rush.

Foodstagram Friday : Cabanatuan City's Homegrown Palabok

Joey's Pancit Palabok

There are food and delicacies that identify a place. Mention bagnet and Ilocos comes to mind, say laing and you've got Bicol. There is also Pancit Habhab for Quezon and Pancit Malabon for, well, Malabon. These food are usually part of tradition that goes on for generations. However, there are those entrepreneurial folks who develop their own menu that it becomes some kind of an icon for a particular place. And that it what Joey's Snack Haus brings to Cabanatuan City... it's very own version of Pancit Palabok.

Batanes : Mount Carmel Chapel

The Chapel Upon the Hill

A simple thing of knotted pine
 And corrugated tin;
But still, to those who read, a sign,
A fortress on the farthest line
 Against the march of sin.

Selfie Sunday : Miss Backpacker Kaiz of Where Have You Been Lately?

Where Has Kaiz Been Lately?

Having traveled Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Nepal and Singapore, to name a few, Kaiz got loads of photos to choose from when I requested her to join "Selfie Sunday". But the photo above stands out because she knows that there are only few blessed people who who have done something like what she did last September of 2013.

Batanes : Boulder Beach Valugan

Misty Boulders

Boulder Beach Valugan is just a short bike ride away from Basco Proper. It is known for its smooth boulders that line the beach which stretches for miles with big waves crashing on them. Interesting to see here is how the smaller pieces of stones seem to gather at the right end of the beach while huge boulders dominate the center and the left side of the beach. Because of the big waves crashing on the boulders, this beach is no place for swimming or even surfing. However, visitors here really won't mind because they would probably just enjoy the unique seascape that this beach offers. The best time to enjoy the place is during at sunrise.

Batanes... Finally!!!

After spending decades in my bucket list, Batanes has finally been stricken-off the list. Join me as I explore two of the three inhabited islands of this picturesque province that redefined my idea of "escape in paradise" - this March on Oman is an Island.

North Batan Island
The Island of Batan with its verdant, rolling fields divided by hedgerows looks like those highlands in Europe that I see on movies. For purposes of establishing itineraries, this island can be divided into North Batan which includes the town proper of Basco and Mount Iraya and South Batan which includes the towns of Mahatao, Ivana and Uyugan among others.

Selfie Sunday : Edwin the LakBay Diva

Lak Bay at 40 feet Under The Sea

Edwin aka Lak Bay is an irony. Take his "Diva" title for example. We call someone a diva if he is a primadonna who wants all the attention to himself. Very much unlike Lak Bay whom friends say is a very shy and unassuming person.
