Name three reasons why you travel to a particular place? For me, it's (1) Sights; (2) Culture; and (3) Food. So before I share to you the breath-taking sights of Adams as well as my little cultural immersion with the place, let me share to you some photos of the food we had in Adams, Ilocos, Norte.
Adams is a mountainous town so expect nothing but fresh, backyard produce here. Abundant in the area are ferns which are normal stable or side dish for every meal. Spinach, tomatoes, bitter melon and brown rice are locally grown here.
Surprisingly, there is a tilapia farm in the area which serves the freshest tilapia dishes such as sweet and sour, steamed, grilled, sashimi and many others. Just look for Aileen to serve you the most delectable tilapia meal.
And since, a number of foreign visitors go to Adams, the menu on each homey place has included western food fusion such as the spinach-potato croquette served to us on breakfast. Also, the way meals are served and presented were surely a delight. Coffee on a coconut cup and fried rice heavily garnished with vines were not only a gastronomical treat but very visual as well.
And before I forget, always end each meal with a shot of naturally-made bugnay wines, perfect for every Adams meal.
