Residents of the island call this Pouo Nga Daku or Hilantaga-an Daku, the bigger twin of Virgin Island or Hilantaga-an Diot/Pouo Nga Diot which I have featured in my last post. Both islands are part of the Municipality of Sta. Fe, Bantayan Island. The island is a marine sanctuary and a haven for divers and snorkelers. Cyanide and dynamite fishing has taken its toll on the corals and underwater scenery of the island but these illegal activities have since stopped and diving and snorkeling have become one of the cash cows of the island. Above water, the island has a white sand bar where beach combers may play amidst the scorching heat of the sun. Here are some pics:
To go there, you may rent a boat from Santa Fe in Bantayan Island and you will probably depart in the scenic Alice Beach. The boat rate as of this writing is Php 800 which covers the trip to both Hilantaga-an Islands (Daku and Diot). There are no entrance fee in the island and a community of mostly fishermen lives and thrives there.
More of Bantayan Island in my next post.

i like the 2nd and 3rd photos! nice captures! =) i just wonder what happens to the islet and the white beach during high tide...
Lawstude~--ay. dika pala nakasama kay Dom nong pumunta sya sa Morong church? Rizal is like another world from Manila. lam mong malayo pero you get this feeling na sobrang liblib na sya at malayo sa kabihasnan. hehe
ay--dami din palang inhabitants ang island.....
Awesome photos. I love it...
The place is not a commercial area so everyone is free to visit the place...
Cool! yung P800 good for ilang persons na?
I found the third photo be perfectly framed. I am thinking of the houses nearby, it's scary to be situated near the water during storms.
another island worth visiting. sa dami ng isla sa atin, hindi matapos tapos ang kakafeature mo.
buti naman hinto na cyanide and dynamite fishing. i'm sure tourism will bring more in the coffers.
I looked at the Rocky Corner and islet photo thinking the islet might have been an appendage that "fell off" from the main island. Interesting composition!
All the photos are spectacular, but the last one is breath taking...there's something about clouds that I love...
Sandi
