Sagada's Underground River and Biak-Na-Bato

Talk about wonders of nature and Sagada seems to have it all. In fact, this mountainous town has its own smaller version of the Underground River and Biak-Na-Bato.

To get there, one must traverse the somewhat tricky trails of echo valley and trek your way amidst muddy paths and thorny plants. You even need to cross and wade thru mini-streams just to get to this really amazing spot. But unlike its bigger counterpart in Palawan, the Underground river here ain't navigable. And also, unlike its bigger counterpart in Bulacan, the Biak-Na-Bato here is just a big chunk of stone which is split in the middle. Both versions are ideal for having your photos taken. Although it is a muddy-trek, a visit to this place is well worth-it.

Beautiful photos - they get across what a hard treck it must be, but worthwhile! Love the action shot of your friends slipping, but most of all I love the colours of the rocks and the water. Your long exposure shot makes it all look very mystical!

Awsome photos! Far more interesting than the photos of my country! I was thinking of you and the other people of the Philippines. Did you suffer from the flood? I saw it in the newspaper and on TV.

I love it that you can only get there by foot.

I love the shots you took of this amazing place. Thanks so much for you comment and kind words on mine. Coming from you that means a lot. I admire your photography so much.

Beautiful nature and beautiful photos.
Did you noticed any birds there?.

Janie said...

Beautiful photos of the river! I hope the slipping hiker didn't bump his head!

Ann said...

I hope you are not affected by this terrible flood.

Your photos are beautiful, it must have been a great trek.

The jungles in NTU are protected by the government. People are not allowed to go in, some soldiers do their training. There are protected signs all over. But I have ventured to the edges to look for plants, not exactly where I took the photos.

But there are a lot of animal activities. We have had monkeys coming out. People have seen monitor lizards, armadillos and wild pigs.

Vanessa said...

Beautiful photos here although I could see that the rocks are sharp and that it looks dangerous. Glad you didn't injure yourself and your friends too.
