Small But Proud Bokong Falls

Sagada has two famous Falls which are often referred to as "the Little Falls" and "the Big Falls". I was really eager to go to Bomod-ok Falls or the Big Falls but unfortunately, it was harvest season in Sagada and their tradition does not allow any travelers or tourists to walk through their rice fields.

As a consolation however, there is the Bokong Falls or the Small Falls which is just fifteen minutes away from the town proper. To go there, just walk through the paved road of Nagongogan until you reach the Arts and Crafts house. After seeing the stainless metal marker, you have to go down to the steps (beware of dogs), walk through a visible trail amidst the rice fields and follow the stream until you hear the rushing water.

Bokong Falls has two cascading waters of about fifteen to twenty feet. It is also referred to as Small Twin Falls. One can climb its rock and use the topmost rock as a diving podium where one can jump on the cool pool waters below. The pool below is about seven feet at the deepest and if not for its very cold water, the mild force of the running water has the same effect of a jacuzzi that gently massages your weary body. Therefore, this place is perfect after a whole day of trekking and hiking activity in Sagada.

Hopefully, I could visit the Bomod-ok Falls or the Big Falls next time. Just gotta check with them first if your preferred vacation there does not coincide with the harvest season. But in the meantime, the Small Twin Falls is a fine baby alternative.
