Bonsai Island, Cagbalete

Off the coast of Cagbalete Beach, there lies a small speck of an islet which locals call Bonsai Island. During Low Tide, visitors can walk to this island and marvel at the amazing wide flat stone which resembles that of a stone pavement. On these stones, you can see a couple of trees similar to those trees you can see in mangroves. The island is amazing to visit because of the crevices filled with trapped sea water with some small fishes. Then there are also lots of stickweeds or tree roots sticking up from the yellow sand.

I do not know why this islet is called Bonsai Island. Maybe because it is dwarfed during hightide that all you can see are the top of the trees planted there. Or, maybe, they refer to those trees as Bonsai Trees because they are planted on stone and really look tiny from afar. For whatever reason, Bonsai Island is worth visiting when you find your way to Cagbalete. For me, it is the equivalent of Willy's Rock that Boracay offers.

Here are some of my shots of Bonsai Island:

Stickweeds

Sea Water Deposited During Low Tide

Stone Crevices eith Yellow Sand

Thick Stones Tested By Time

Waters Stored On Stone Crevices

Like a Cemented Pavement

Since it is Lenten Season, let me just share to you one of my favorite verse:

"For everything comes from God alone. Everything lives by his power, and everything is for his glory" Roman 11:36

Have a meaningful lent everyone!!!

I don't know, seeing your set on Bonsai Island, as well as Dong Ho's awakens the choirboy in me. If that is good or bad, I don't really know. hehe

Maybe it's the season as well.

Nice set. Keep shooting!

i find the stickweeds interesting. they look like emaciated souls still standing up against violent waves (challenges).

i don't seem to make sense with that statement. must be the easter fever. haha :)
