Welcome to my hometown - Cabanatuan City. It is high time to feature my place because in a research conducted by Asian Instititue of Management, my City is among the best places in the country to live, work or start a business. See related news here.My city is strategically located in the heart of the Province of Nueva Ecija approximately 117 kilometers (or about 4 hours) from Manila. Although, this is not the Provincial Capital, Cabanatuan is the only 1st-Class City and is considered the commercial center of Nueva Ecija.
It's almost 19 thousand hectares of plain land are mainly agricultural so expect to see lots of rice fields in the area. There are no beaches, no mountains, no falls or any other attractive landscapes but the City more than made-up for these thru its rich history.
The various attractions in my City are mainly associated with my people's participation in World War II. As an info, Nueva Ecija represents one of the eight rays of sun in the Philippine Flag which revolted against Spanish Occupation. Most of these landmarks are posted here so do enjoy this post and if you happen to go to Cabanatuan, just buzz me and I am more than happy to show you around.

Your place looked interesting too. Burgos Street looked like a very busy street. Which are the most famous/favourite local products in your town? I know I sounded crazy but when I first visited manila in 1983, I bought one whole box of dried mangos but they are now easily available in our supermarkets....lol

I used to travel through and/or make stopovers in Cabanatuan when I was doing fieldwork in the Cagayan River Basin in the 60's. Ibang-iba na pala ang Cabanatuan ngayon! Time to revisit na pala.

at nung nasa audit pa ko, I audited banks there sa cabanatuan. stayed at La Parilla... then tambay sa mall na katabi nun (i forgot the name)
@ ifoundme - you can just spend a day here and you will see evrything my City has to offer but if you decided to stay for the weekend then we have some of the best resorts in the region.
@ luke wiley - it's the Fil-Am connection that makes us brothers. Our countries have rich historical relations.
@ the islander - cabanatuan pa lang yan, yung nueva ecija talaga napakalawak ng mga bukirin. pinakamalaki kami sa region 3 in terms of land area.

@ alicesg - Burgos St is our downtown area with lots of old stores and old market.
the most famous local product of my town has gotta be the longaniza. it is a meat sausage wrapped in pig intestine mixed with lots of garlic. i know it doesn't sound delicious but wait 'til you taste it. we even have a festival named after it.
@ dot - palay is my country's main crop and it is where rice came from. the region in which Cabanatuan belongs is known as the Philippines Rice Bowl which produces the most rice in our country.
@ bertN - the City has fully developed now with lot's of concrete road networks. this is where most of commercial establishments in the province are located.
@ lethalverses - hey ka-region, kumusta. La Parilla is still there with lots of worthy competitions now. You must be referring to NE Mall just near the hotel. Now, we have bigger NE Malls, a Mega Center which is reputed to be the biggest mall in Central Luzon and Robinson's. SM is in the drawing board.

wow, nueva ecija ka pala. there's a large group of pinoys in tokyo from there. they're part of the Japan Association of Novo Ecijanos (JANE)

the pictures prove it - cabanatuan is really a good place to live in. parang peaceful nga dyan plus ganda pa ng scenery [i'm talking about the ricefields]. i love seeing ricefields. hehe. siguro kasi sa southern luzon ako lumaki kung saan marami ding ricefields. i've never been to northern luzon. at pag pumunta ako jan, i'll surely buzz you kuya oman.

ive never really been here. but what i know is that this city is also known as the tricycle capital of the country... hehehe
@ vinzent - anytime would be ok pero pinakamaganda pag february because of the festival and also during april and november because of harvest time.
i tried to look for the bridge near pangatian but had to leave after a few minutes since we're running out of time...next time or never :(
@ beero - you would always almost pass nueva ecija when you plan to go north. maganda dito ang endless views ng rice field. just tell me when ka mapupunta para naman mailibot ko kayo dito.
@ shionge - it is a cool place to live in but the weather is relatively hot and humid.
i'll try to go to that ice cream shop and feature the fried ice cream soon.
@ joy - Cabanatuan is a popular place for concerts and these are usually held either at Araullo University Gymnasium or in other resorts and hotels here.
@ nanaybelen - medyo maganda kasi irrigation system dito sa cabanatuan kaya sagana sa tubig ang mga palayan.
@ luna miranda - cabanatuan is a good stop-over if you are going to baler or dingalan in aurora. the best accomodations and restaurants in nueva ecija are in my city.

@ tash - there are actually two welcome signs of the City which are created similarly and the sculptures on top of it are both identical. they are sculptures of farmers and a haystack.

some of them could really be a pain in the as*** specially to tourists.
@ tutubi - i dunno if there is a bridge in pangatian. maybe just a foot bridge to cross the irrigation. you may have passed valdefuente bridge going to talavera, nueva ecija. the other bridge (Vergara Bridge) is still in the works.

I've been to Cabanatuan once or twice but did not have the chance to go sight seeing. My brother has a house there but his family has migrated to the States now.

Hi guys there's no bridge in pangatian but they do have bridge between CABU and PALAYAN City.
Lawstude It was amazing what you been posting here all the picture is beautiful. I even see the place that I use to play when I was a little girl and you made my eyes watery because there is so much memories that I cant forget to our province like I use to help my father sa bukid but even his gone now his memories is still remain to me.

I enjoyed my stay in Cabanatuan. I stayed there at least 2 weeks on a couple of work assignments. I hardly remember though the name of the hotel-resort I stayed in + that bakeshoppe that I liked a lot. I suddenly missed Burgos area.
