Cape Bojeador Lighthouse

There is something about Cape Bojeador Lighthouse that is spooky. Maybe because it is old, or maybe it is isolated, or maybe because the weather that time gloomy. But one thing for sure, even if the place is a bit eerie, this Lighthouse is definitely a must place to visit and include if you are touring Ilocos.

Cape Bojeador Lighthouse is located at the Municipality of Burgos, Ilocos Norte and holds the distinction of being the highest elevated lighthouse in the Philippines. It was built in 1890s and is considered a heritage structure.

The caretaker of the place was kind enough to let me go up the tower and boy, climbing it ain't that easy with its rusty, slippery metal spiraling stairs plus the heavy blowing of the wind can be felt thru the open windows of the lighthouse (and of course, the eerie feeling of what if there is a ghost in there is also playing at the back of my mind). But once you are at the top, the view is just spectacular.

Here are some photos I have taken of the lighthouse:

  1. The lighthouse looked similar to the one which was used to film this Pinoy gay movie "Ang Lalake Sa Parola". I saw the trailer and both lighthouses resembled each other.

And through the photos I can imagine how eerie you must've felt talaga!

  18. Hello Guys, Thank you for all your comments. Just got back from a weekend in the Hundred Islands. I'll post some pics of the place soon.

@ kyels - I have not seen the film yet but Bojeador is really one of the most scenic lighthouses in the Philippines like that one in Bolinao so I am sure there are lots of films being shot there.

Personally thou, I think this lighthouse is perfect for a horror movie.

  22. @ kegler747 - thanks carlo. six years ago all we really have were filmed camera and we are bit excited pa on how the shots will turn up because we don't have previews.

if only digicams were available a decade ago, i would have filled this blog with lots more pictures.

on the brighter side, i would have to go back to the places i have been just take photos of these wonderful places.

  23. @ r-yo - i agree panyero. this the caretaker saod that a large portion of the maintenance here comes from donations of tourists in these places. so if we want our children and the future generation to see the place, little donations could help a lot.

  24. @ lagal[og] - bai oggie, talaga? i have not seen anything although i could feel that i am not alone in that place.

sabi kasi ng matatanda pag kinilabutan ka daw eh merong ibang elemento sa lugar, and i felt just like that.

    multo? oo nga no.

di ko naintindihan yung iba salita sa markings eh pero as a whole alam ko na that is an honor for the century old lighthouse.
