I know. I am lousy in titling my post. I just can't think of a better description of Laoag than its political loyalty to the Marcoses. The clan of the former president are prominently elected here lead by Governor Bong-bong and Congresswoman Imee.Although there are some wonderful churches and good beaches not far from the city, there really ain't a whole lot to do in the place. In fact, after just visiting few places around the city, we just decided to proceed our trip.
Here are some photos I have taken from the city:
The St. William's Cathedral, more popularly known as Laoag Church is an Italian Renaissance-style church built in the 1870s. Its weathered bell tower (see top photo) is gradually sinking into the soft riverside loam. These structures sit prominently in Laoag's busy central district.
Watermelons, melons and honey dew peddlers abound the area and I just can't help myself clicking away on these juicy fruits. These fruits are homegrown in Ilocos area and I got myself a bargain considering how expensive these fruits are in our place.By the way, tourists often flock to Laoag to visit Fort Ilocandia. A separate post will be made on the beautiful place.

I can tell that Ilocos has its share of Spanish-era churches.

now i miss melons! they are so outrageously expensive here you'd think they're made of gold. imagine about P 500 for a medium-sized one!!

i like structures covered with bricks. so far i have not yet set plans to visit laoag but i will surely be there.

@ redlan - i agree. almost every town there meron magagandang simbahan plus nasa gilid kasi sila ng pinas kaya meron din magagandang beaches.

@ rochelle - laoag is in ilocos norte and they have an airport there so you can also reach it by air.
