Mine's View and Good Shepherd

In my nth trip to Baguio, I decided to drive and visit Mines View Park at 6 in the morning. As usual, it is foggy and raining and visibility is almost nil. At this time in the morning, i have learned that it is useless to go there because you will not be able to see Baguio's famous mines and landscapes. But nevertheless, it is still the perfect time to reflect and feel the breeze that Baguio mornings can offer.

Mines View Park is one of the most popular and most visited park in Baguio. From the observation deck of the park a breathtaking panoramic view of Benguet's gold and copper mines and the surrounding mountains unfolds before you. It is a spectacular sight to behold and should not be missed when visiting the City.

At the isle of the park is an observation deck where you need to traverse the winding stone-covered stairway. However, one should be careful when ascending or descending the stairway just after a rain as the steps can be very slippery.

Just a few meters from the Park is the Good Sheperd Convent made famous by its Halayang Ube (Ube Jam) and other sweet delicacies. Since the shop opens at 8 in the morning, visitors can roam around the area. There is an observation deck where one gets to see the distant Cordillera mountains and a valley below which are similarly visible from the Mines View Park. There is also a mini garden where the statue of Jesus - The Good Shepherd greets everyone who wants to walk-in.

Then there is a grotto of St. Mary who was the foundress of the good shepherd sisters. The lushness of the garden and the presence of pine trees surely makes you feel like your close to heavens and the pine-scented air just wanna make you thank the Lord for the beautiful foggy and rainy morning.

Time to go home...

  1. Sir, we miss you here in Araullo. Thank you for everything that you have taught us in Tax. Sayang Po umalis agad kayo.

  2. I went to the Pink Sister's Convent the other day to buy Ube Jam but it is out of stock. They should produce more because sayang naman ang pagpunta doon kung wala naman Ube Jam.

  3. I like your blog. Check mine coz we have the same interests in travels.
